Armstrong should keep titles: Indurain

Cycling legend Miguel Indurain says Lance Armstrong should keep his seven Tour de France titles until drug charges are proven by a single authority recognised by everyone in the sport.
Five-time Tour winner Indurain says “until an organisation recognised by all decides to the contrary, the Tour victories are his.”
Indurain, who won five straight Tours from 1991-95, says there are too many national and international bodies with differing interests in the fight against doping.
Indurain also called the US Anti-Doping Agency’s case against Armstrong “strange,” claiming its pursuit of the American was “without scruples.”
The Spanish cyclist, writing in Saturday’s Marca newspaper, says he isn’t surprised Armstrong chose not to contest charges from USADA.

Nice to have an elder statesman give a balanced view and make valid points of the mess.

Right, the elder statesman who started the EPO epidemic.
BTW there IS a single recognized authority, WADA. The problem is the UCI thwarting them at every turn, refusing to co-operate.
USADA is a WADA affiliate, operating under their auspices and full support.

LA has never denied taking drugs. His comment has always been that he has never tested positive. Marion Jones never tested positive and we know how that turned out.

So Big Mig finds it strange that USADA went after Lance Armstrong…no, what would be strange would be if it hadn’t gone after him, after all, what credibility would it have if it didn’t, given the mountain of evidence that Armstrong doped?

Umm well considering THAT will probably never happen so justice will forever be delayed , I suggest someone in the know should investigate why Mr Indurain would make those remarks – was he a drug-taker too ?
