Sheens to leave Tigers, says report
Wests Tigers coach Tim Sheens has reportedly quit as coach as the NRL club after ten years following days of player unrest.
News Limited reports Sheens told the players and club of his decision Monday afternoon and a scheduled board meeting at the club, to discuss his future, failed to take place on Monday night.
There was a backlash from players upset at the cleanout being undertaken by the club.
It is believed the Tigers are working on a financial settlement with the four-time premiership-winning mentor, who has two years remaining on his contract believed to be worth $450,000 a season.
The cash-strapped joint venture would struggle to pay out the deal in full as well as find the funds to hire a replacement coach.
There was speculation Sheens might be hired by the New Zealand Warriors and that would lessen the payout from the Tigers.
Manly assistant coach Matt Parish, who had a brief yet unsuccessful head coaching stint with English Super League club Salford last year, is the favourite to replace Sheens.

Yah, look forward to next year now. A fresh approach and hopefully a new controlled style, a new half back and a clean out of useless overpaid imports (Anasta, Blair, Tuquri). In saying that I suspect the problem is still there as the CEO seems to be at the head of all these problems as well.
Anyway, lets go 2013. and especially 2014.

Liquid says take Moltzen with him ,I say take Blair ,this is where all the problems started ,how any one could recruit and keep him beggars belief.
We will have big problems keeping sponsers, fans and players before this over.
Ta-ta Wests Tigers I cannot stand any more of your losing mentality, how can you pick a winning RL tipping sheet backing the Tiges?
I know.. back their opponents ,sure win there.

Sheens will stay at the club in a senior role. He will not be coaching. There are a lot of things that happened throughout the year that the coach has no control of (for eg. injuries and there was a lot of them), we should at least cut him some slack. He took over the team when it was in a shambles and he made it better and got us a premiership in ’05. I thank him for that. He is a decent coach and he has never bad mouthed the club. You haven’t heard any hoo-ha from him since this whole thing started to happen. So, all I can say is ‘thank you’ to him for making it a competitive team. The only thing he can be blamed for maybe is that he stayed on too long and that he has his own favourites (players).
Anyway, its exciting times. We will get a new coach and hopefully he will not be scared to make the tough calls. If a player is not performing then give those that are performing a chance in the top grade. I am staying away from the DT newspaper as they blow everything out of proportion.

Hiring an unsuccessful coach. There’s hope for me yet. Well, he was assistant coach for Manly which wasn’t too bad

Tim Sheens is a great coach and will be missed at the Tigers.
He came in when Lamb could not do the job.
Now we are to get another Coach ……. all that will happen is that changes will be made for the sake of change.
That is what business does when they are under pressure .
The players will always blame the Coach when things get tough …… but who takes the field ?????
The financial constraints @ the Tigers is something that should have been addresssed a long time ago.
The Board commit to spending $450,000 per season for a coach ……. but do not have the money ??????
Something seriously wrong in the back rooms @ Tigers.
The Tigers should concentrate on bringing thru more local Juniors …… they play just to have the chance to set up a NRL Career.
Here’s a tip ……. bring back Samu Wara from the Western Force …. he is a play maker …… and a real utility back.
He was never given a go previuosly @ Tigers . He would do a better job then Braith Anasta and at half the price .
