Western Sydney will fancy their chances of starting their A-League history with a win tonight against the Central Coast.

Playing at home first up always helps and Western Sydney will be keen to get their campaign up and running to prove that they deserve their place in Australian football’s premier club competition.

The Wanderers have also recruited well and have the talent to potentially trouble the Mariners tonight.

Skipper Michael Beauchamp adds some much needed experience to Western Sydney’s defence. In attack, the Wanderers also possess new recruit and marquee player Shinji Ono.

It will be interesting to see how Ono performs tonight given his injury riddled past.

At his best, Ono is the x-factor for Western Sydney and will open up the Mariners defence if he is given time to orchestrate proceedings in the midfield.

But injuries have plagued Ono’s career and it remains to be seen if the Japanese star will handle the pressure of a Central Coast midfield that will be keen to shut him down.

Speaking of the Mariners midfield, young teenager Tomas Rogic will be the man that Western Sydney needs to keep close tabs on tonight.

Rogic is a player with a very promising future and is the man most likely to ignite the Mariners attack if given the space to thrive on the pitch.

With the Central Coast known for their ability to attack, the Wanderers may struggle in the early stages to match the pace of their opposition.

Although the Wanderers will look to keep things tight for the majority of the contest, the attacking chemistry that the Central Coast possesses should be enough for the Mariners to snare victory in an entertaining contest.

Prediction: Western Sydney 1-3 Central Coast
