The Central Coast Mariners will be looking to get on the scoresheet for the first time when they host Perth Glory this afternoon. We’ll have live scores from 5.00pm AEDT.

They might not have been poor, but the Mariners certainly were not at their best in last week’s stalemate with Western Sydney and could probably count themselves lucky they escaped Parramatta Stadium with a point.

Graham Arnold will be expecting better things from the Mariners midfield. While Tom Rogic showed signs of last season’s brilliance, the blue and yellow were too indecisive at times and it meant chances were few and far between.

Today they face a Glory side that look to have continued to improve after last year’s grand final loss to Brisbane, with the Jacob Burns/Liam Miller midfield combination a standout aspect in last week’s win over the Roar in Perth.

They’ll need to see that form again today. Perth Glory have never beaten the Mariners in a regular season fixture at Bluetongue, and have managed only three victories over their opponents in 22 matches overall.

The Glory will go into this match without the services of hitman Shane Smeltz, who is on international duty, allowing Ian Ferguson to hand a start to Billy Mehmet, who broke the deadlock last week after replacing Smeltz late in the match. He’ll be crucial for the Glory today.

These two look to be two of the better sides in the league and both will have claims for winning today and for that reason, we might see the spoils shared at Bluetongue today.
