A winless Melbourne Victory outfit will be desperate for their first points of the season when they host top of the table Adelaide United tonight. We’ll have live scores from 7.30pm AEDT.
It wasn’t the start the Ange Postecoglou was hoping for, to put it mildly.
Jumped by crosstown rivals Melbourne Heart on the opening night of the season, the Victory then headed north last Saturday night and were roundly hammered by Postecoglou’s old team, Brisbane Roar.
It just hasn’t come together yet for the Victory, and tonight won’t be any easier.
Adelaide flew under the radar in the preseason, but two wins and two clean sheets have put John Kosmina’s men on the right path early, and another win tonight would certainly make another statement.
The home side will welcome back a trio of stars from international duty, with Archie Thompson, Mark Milligan and Marco Rojas all expected to return tonight.
Much was made of the defection of Marcos Flores to Melbourne after winning the Johnny Warren Medal for the Reds two seasons ago.
Adelaide have seemingly replaced Flores with the lively Jeronimo Neumann, but the loss of Flores will still cut deep and his former teammates will be out to upset the apple cart tonight.
The pressure is all on the home side, and expect them to bounce back from last week. Whether they’ll have the quality to hold out Adelaide remains to be seen.

How long is Mark Milligan playing for the Victory? He was much easier to like at JEF.
