Shane Cameron will edge Danny Green

Danny Green will be looking to regain the IBO Cruiserweight title he lost to Antonio Tarver last year when he clashes with New Zealand’s Shane Cameron on November 21st, 2012 at the Hisense Arena in Melbourne.

Green comes into the fight off an easy stoppage win over Danny Santiago at Light Heavyweight earlier this year. That was on the back of two stoppage losses to Antonio Tarver (July 2011) and Krzysztof Wlodarczyk (November 2011).

The Green Machine will step back up in weight to fight Cameron, who will be stepping down from Heavyweight.

The Commonwealth Cruiserweight champion in Cameron comes into the fight on a five-fight winning streak, and has recorded two big knockouts in his last three fights. The first was against Dominic Vea (July 2011) on the Green versus Tarver undercard, so fighting in Australia will be no problem for the Kiwi, and the most recent one was against Monte Barrett (July 2012) at Heavyweight.

Many will be writing Cameron off, saying the drop in the weight division from Heavyweight to Cruiserweight may prove too much for him and he will lose power. But ‘The Mountain Warrior’ is primed for this fight, and four of his last five fights have been at Cruiserweight.

He will not let the opportunity of becoming a world champion slip through his fingers, and has installed the help of a nutritionist to help with the weight cut.

Verdict: I’m leaning towards Cameron winning the fight. He will be much bigger than Green in the ring and his punching power may be too much for Green, whose chin is questionable after two knockout losses in a row last year.
