Perth Glory will be looking to maintain their 100 percent home record when they host Western Sydney Wanderers this afternoon. We’ll have live scores from nib Stadium from 5.00pm AEDT.

Perth Glory came into round seven of the A-League sitting well-placed in fourth position, and a win here could take them as high as second.

In a dogged contest last Sunday they left Hindmarsh Stadium with a 1-1 draw after Billy Mehmet put the Glory in front, only for Dario Vidosic to equalise and ensure the points would be shared.

With Shane Smeltz returning to the fold the Glory are beginning to hit their straps and that signals trouble not only for today’s opponents, but for the entire competition.

Western Sydney were perhaps unlucky to go down 2-1 at home to Newcastle last weekend after they relinquished a 1-0 lead to lose 2-1, despite storming home in the final 15 minutes.

Like they have in all of their six matches, the Wanderers gave red and black fans plenty to be pleased about in what was another confident display.

Today represents a far harder test for the league’s new boys. Nobody enjoys travelling to Perth at the best of times but nib Stadium has become a fortress of late, and expected temperatures of around 30 degrees certainly won’t make the job any easier.

The onus will be on the more experienced heads to stand up and be counted this afternoon. Under coach Ian Ferguson the Glory have become the most physical side in the A-League and if Western Sydney allow themselves to be bullied, they’ll almost certainly make the long flight home wearing the effects of a loss.

Just watched the last ten minutes or so on replay … I just don’t understand how we didn’t manage to score. I just don’t.

Woodwork, balls almost landing right at our feet behind the line, Zahra, Risdon waiting too long …

:S arghh, my kingdom for Smeltzy back!

Wanderers deserved to win that,we should been 3-0 down by half time if Bridges and Hersi didn’t butcher two golden opportunities.Glory were a little unlucky not to score in the second half though hit the bar twice and Covic was MOTM for good reason, playing against 10 men is always tricky you only have to look at the MV v CCM game .

I agree with Nathan, where the hell was Smeltzy? Topor-Stanley put in a good shift for them. Best I’ve seen him. How did Zahra miss from two meters away?

I missed the game but just caught the result.

Simply outstanding by WSW. A team put together in 4 months, with a rookie senior coach … and they’ve now knocked off last year’s Grand Finalists – both AWAY from home.

I guess, when you recruit players, who can actually play the Game – as opposed to just recruiting players for marketing spin – you can build a competitive team that fans can embrace.

Next week the MVFC come to town. The 2 best active support groups in the HAL meeting at a real football stadium. I was going to say “there will be fireworks”, but that might be misinterpreted by the fun police!

What a season – and we’re only 1/4 of the way through.

If you think the regular season is good, wait until the finals come around!

Possibly Fuss, but everyone should also thank Sydney for being the ones who actually bring a wider audience to the HAL. Pretty much all the increase in TV, media, crowds and general interest can be attributed to Sydney FC(and WSW replacing GCFC)…….so while you’re all running around proclaiming yourselves the bestest fans and making fun of poor ol SFC, maybe just take a second to think about just what SFC has done for the entire HAL, at great expense to the club and seemingly it’s fans.

maybe he was having a go at the giants

No, he wouldn’t have been having a go at the Giants. He has said that the other three codes aren’t even on his radar, so he must be having a dig at Sydney FC for some reason. Plus, why would he even mention them on a football tab?

That’s too losses that we never should have allowed, both to Sydney teams.

      Bloody hell, bogey city.

Ugly but effective. Had to park the bus otherwise we’d get thwatted off the park. Ante Covic MOTM for me, hands down otherwise it’d be 13-1. Still can’t get over Hersi’s ridiculously bad control of a clear-cut chance.

If anyone wants to know what Burns adds to the team – organisation at set pieces is a big one!

      A – How did we not score…
B – if Covic does not get MotM it is a crock
      C – WhereTF was Smeltzy!?
