Perth Glory will be out to rebound from their loss at Central Coast on New Year’s Eve when they host Sydney FC tonight. We’ll have live scores from 9.45pm AEDT.
They’re still well in contention in fifth place, but Perth’s season continues to be plagued by inconsistency and serious questions are beginning to be asked about whether the Glory can turn it around.
Liam Miller, Shane Smeltz and Jacob Burns have all spent time on the sidelines this season but they’ve been back for a few weeks now, but Ian Ferguson’s men just can’t seem to put it together.
Tonight they get the chance to take a step in the right direction when they face Sydney FC, who prop up the A-League table with only 13 points from their 14 matches.
The Sky Blues continued to be plagued by some serious structural problems, though they will get some assistance in the form of Alessandro Del Piero and Jason Culina, who both should start tonight.
Unfortunately for Frank Farina’s team, their defensive instability continues due to the unavailability of Pascal Bosschaart and Adam Griffiths.
As has been the case all season for Sydney, the depth of their squad – or lack thereof – means they’ll struggle to contain the likes of Smeltz and Miller, and they might have a tough time out west this evening.

Only two subs combined – very odd!
And honestly Vuko, they put three shots on target and you conceded two of them…

Perth Glory was put here on earth to help West Australians learn to deal with disappointment, like pets for kids to help them learn about spending extravagant amounts of time caring for something which will eventually teach them how to cope with death. >(

Maybe so but looks like smeltz has rediscovered his mojo…..which spells trouble for everyone and will be much more interesting to watch than a goldfish.

Funny, that’s just how I feel after last night!
My son just returned from a trip to the UK,where he caught up with West Ham,so when he started commenting on the Glory performance,I thought he just had an attack of the “Eurosnobs:!
However,as time went on,& we seemed to blunder through the game,I began to wonder if the Glory had gone to Bali,& we were watching the Methodist Ladies College playing in drag!
Over the years,it has seemed that the MLC has had a steady gig standing in for the Fremantle Dockers,
It also seems like they have just returned from filling in for Sri Lanka at the Cricket,!
Of course,at this point,I will be besieged by alumni of the MLC,pointing out their preeminence in all field sports!

Steal? If they win and move into fifth doesn’t that mean they deserve it? Or did all teams above steal their spots too?

well two rounds ago they were 2nd last. dont get me wrong I’m happy to see them move up the ladder.more a turn of phrase that like a thief in the night, and aided by the small number of teams in the league they will creep from second last to 5th with a win tonight in the space of three rounds. Casual observers could be excused for wondering how that happened so fast. But Ive put the mockers on them now haven’t I. Last week at suncorp they look much better in attack so mike mulvey is getting that sorted…just hope defensively we hold up this week.

Last I checked the by-laws, you were deducted points for letting Ryall score against you. So no points for us >:

Did I hear that correctly? Sydney FC played in Adelaide on Tuesday, came back to Sydney and then flew west all over again?
Why?
