Full results for the complete undercard of Mundine vs Geale II, held at the Sydney Entertainment Centre on Wednesday, 30th of January, 2013.

Kimbo Slive vs Shane Tilyard: It was more brawling than boxing, but yes it entertained. American streetfighter Kimbo Slice fought back from a first round knockdown to beat Shane Tilyard.

Imagine a pub fight where two big units, 100kg plus fellas, start laying into each other. There is no technique, no movement, no variation. Just two massive units swinging with all their power.

Tilyard’s strategy seemed to be throw haymaker after haymaker, and funnily enough it nearly worked. He had Kimbo down in the first round and he was doing some damage with his huge hooks. Defence was an afterthought for both of these guys.

But Kimbo, aka Kevin Ferguson, to his credit came back and got the win. He showed more boxing ability and started on Tilyard’s admittedly soft body, and that’s where he earned his victory.

A body rip that would have felled a house put Tilyard down in the second round, and that was it, all over.

Daniel Ammann vs David Aloua: Daniel Ammann retained his Australian cruiserweight title with a technically superior demolition of David Aloua. The fight went 10 rounds but Ammann always looked in control from start to finish. The more experienced Ammann won it 92-98, 91-99 and 91-99.

Joel Brunker vs Ivan Hernandez: Joel Brunker maintained his undefeated record with an efficient display against Mexico’s Ivan Hernandez. Brunker secured a 72-80, 73-79 and 75-78 unanminous points decision after out-working and out-enthusing his Mexican opponent.

Jamie Pittman vs Zac Awad: Jamie Pittman proved too classy for his super middleweight foe Zac Awad. Pittman, part of Daniel Geale’s Grange Boxing gym stable, showed no ring rust in his long awaited return to action.

The boxer from the Central Coast was slick, fast and effective, touching up Awad at will to get a 72-80, 72-80 and 72-80 ruling that was never really in doubt.

Lauryn Eagle vs Nadine Brown: In the only female fight on the card, Lauryn Eagle was too good for Nadine Brown. Brown kept coming at Eagle all night but the former waterskiing champion was smart, picking off Brown as she came towards her.

Eagle used her footwork to land the more telling punches on the aggressive Brown.

Steve Lovett vs Jeremy Allan: Finally, Steve Lovett survived a second round knockdown to roar back and defeat Jeremy Allan. Another Grange fighter, Lovett was stunned early but clawed back.

Going to the judges it was going to be a close call, but Lovett’s workrate got him over the line and he just got the unanimous decision 56-57, 56-57 and 56-57.
