Australia takes on the West Indies in game three of their one day international series, in the first ODI to be played at Manuka Oval in Canberra. The locals are expected to come out in force and fill the 14,000 capacity ground.

We will have live updates and comments from 2.20pm AEST.

It’s an old fashioned do-or-die encounter for the tourists, who were ambushed by Mitchell Starc and subsequently pummelled in game one at the WACA.

Then, when they seemed like they had a chance of reciprocating the dose, George Bailey bailed them up in game two and the eventuating total was beyond them.

There were encouraging signs in game two that the West Indian bats may be starting to find some form, though the ever-lengthening shadow of Mitchell Starc loomed menacingly yet again.

At the moment Starc is proving more unplayable than a Metallica record at an Amish convention, his 10 wickets in the first two games a testament to his relentless riffing on the tourists’ pads and stumps.

Manuka may prove the best opportunity for the tourists; its tradition of being a batsman’s paradise must have the likes of Chris Gayle, Kieran Powell, Kieron Pollard and the Bravo brothers licking their lips with anticipation.

Powell played well for 83 in game two and will probably be the danger man again. Gayle and/or Pollard will come off eventually, and the tourists would dearly love it to happen at Manuka.

But of course this belies the fact the Australian team has form players with both bat and ball who will similarly enjoy the Manuka conditions.

If Bailey, Glenn Maxwell and Matt Wade decide to throw the kitchen sink at a few, it could be a long night for the ball fetchers in the outer.

And with Starc (if fit?) honing in on the West Indian wickets like an Exocet missile, Australia have the firepower to take an unassailable 3-0 lead.

This should prove to be the most entertaining of the matches so far and will hopefully be a whole lot of fun to watch!
