Questions to ponder ahead of Round 3: Can the Pies be re-heated, Are Port the real deal, Can Jezza's form last for the Cats?
Collingwood look far off the conquering team of 2023 and one aspect of real concern is their struggles in defence.
Since the start of their history, the Fremantle Dockers have relied on a select few players to get them across the line.
For example, Matthew Pavlich and Aaron Sandilands have carried Fremantle on their backs for many years. Without these players, the Dockers had little to no chance of pulling off a win.
In Round 21 last year, the Dockers were fighting for a finals spot with a must win clash against North Melbourne.
Pav failed to pass a fitness test and those in the media gave the team little hope of competing, let alone pulling off a victory.
They came out and kicked their highest score all season and beat the Kangaroos by 10 goals.
Guys like Jon Griffin, Michael Walters and Chris Mayne stepped up and performed.
The goals came from everywhere.
However this weekend is a tougher challenge.
They travel to Launceston to face the Hawks, one of the toughest teams to play in footy.
It wouldn’t be easy even if Pav was playing, but the men in purple will be viewing it as an opportunity to prove to the AFL that they are the real deal and can compete as a team.
With a good performance this weekend, the Dockers can shake off that one-man team tag and show that when their greatest champion finally calls it a day, they won’t be finished.
