YouTube is a wonderful melting pot of entertainment, infotainment and sometimes, it’s even educational.
So, which category to put this short video in?
Educational on the dangers of societies that licence blind people to ride motorcycles?
Infotainment? No, it’s Yo Tube, not daytime television.
Entertainment? Oh, please, let’s hope not.
The skeptic in me can’t help but wonder if this is staged, until the police turn up.
The reasonably intelligent person in me is trying to think of how a motorcyclist manages to ram up the rear end of cyclist. Could the sun have been in their eyes?
Maybe, this particular motorcyclist sees running down cyclists as some sort of perverse sport. You know, like in some Z-grade Cannonball Run rip-off movie that went straight to Beta, even bypassing VHS?
What is clear, is the dangers that cyclists face on the road, even when that road appears relatively free of traffic.
To quote from the YouTube video description:
Cyclists didn’t appear to have serious injuries. Note about cyclists and riders coexisting on this famous two mile stretch of road. Even though bicycles are up here in increasing numbers, this is the first time a bicycle has been hit by a motorcycle In the fours years I’ve been up here. Motorcycle riders of all skill levels come up here to practice. This location it is pretty common for riders to sometimes go wide exiting the turn.
Thankfully, it appears that the cyclist is ok and hopefully the motorcyclist is facing a hefty penalty for such blatant stupidity.
A timely reminder, that no matter how much you may be taking care out there, you can’t control the actions of those around you.
