Albert Kelly should be the Blues' number six

With less then 20 days until Origin, the race for the NSW halves is heating up. But who deserves the ultimate honour of representing their state?

Before the season started Laurie Daley announced that Roosters halfback Mitchell Pearce would wear the no.7 jersey for New South Wales.

So it is only a matter of deciding who will fill the vacancy at five-eighth.

I highly disagree with the selection of Pearce. Sure he is a good option I just don’t think he’s the best option for the Blues. They could do better.

There is plenty of competition for the pivot position, such as last year’s no.6 Todd Carney, Adam Reynolds, Josh Reynolds and James Maloney.

But it’s young Titan Albert Kelly that has caught my eye.

Kelly has raised a few eyebrows since joining the Titans during the off season to replace the legendary Scott Prince and so far he has stepped up to the challenge.

You could even go as far as to say that he has done better than Prince.

But does he have what it takes to represent his state? I believe so.

He is a young exciting player that has the ability to change the outcome of a game. Even though falling short in their game against the Broncos, he showed this.

He stepped his game up when his team needed him, this would be a great skill to have come State of Origin.

Not only this but he can run the ball better than any competing NSW halves. This would be a great x- factor during Origin and maybe even a game changer.

I’m not saying that he is a definite but he should at least be in the running, even if just coming off the bench to get some experience.
