Jo-Wilfried Tsonga is in great form but he will have to get past Roger Federer in the quarter-finals if he is to keep his 2013 French Open dream alive. Join us for live scores from 10.00pm AEST.

Tsonga and Federer once again clash in a Grand Slam quarter-final, and if their meeting at the Australian Open earlier this year is anything to go by, tennis fans should be in for a treat tonight.

Federer managed to defeat Tsonga in five sets at the Australian Open quarter-finals this year and will need to be at his best to once again to get the better of the Frenchman.

Tsonga will be desperate to go one better at this year’s French Open given that he squandered a terrific opportunity to make the semi-finals last season when he lost to Novak Djokovic.

In that particular contest, Tsonga led by two sets to love and also held match points against the world number one.

Indeed Tsonga has wasted little time getting into the quarter-finals, winning his opening four matches without dropping a set.

Federer meanwhile was forced to come back from two sets to one down against Gilles Simon in the fourth round, but once again showed the class necessary to secure passage to the quarter-finals.

With both players very evenly matched, expect a tight and very entertaining contest tonight.

Prediction

Both Federer and Tsonga are known for their shot making ability and should once again put on a show for spectators.

Tsonga will look to dictate terms with his massive serve and forehand combination which has enabled him to blast his way through the opening four rounds at Roland Garros.

Federer meanwhile will continue to rely on his magnificent movement and artistry around the court to move Tsonga around the court in a bid to tire the Frenchman.

While Federer may come into this match as a slight favourite, Tsonga’s performances at Roland Garros over the past couple of years suggests that he has the arsenal and belief to win tonight.

On the back of a strong home crowd, expect Tsonga to rise to the occasion against Federer in a terrific contest and progress to his first French Open semi-final.

Tsonga in five sets.
