Mickey Arthur is seeking further compensation for his sacking by Cricket Australia.
The South African had his contract terminated last month just two weeks out from the Ashes and was replaced aa coach by Darren Lehmann.
The Weekend Australian reported that Arthur has hired a legal firm to act on his behalf, but that CA are keen to avoid a court case by offering a cash settlement.
It’s believed Arthur was paid three months severance pay when told by chief executive James Sutherland and high performance manager Pat Howard that his services were no longer required.
Sources told the Australian that Arthur had been offered a further payment by CA and that a settlement was expected before the matter reached court.
Sutherland conceded at the time that in many respects Arthur was made a scapegoat for the disciplinary and performance issues that were plaguing the team.
Arthur had two years to run on his contract, that was meant to see him through until after the 2015 World Cup.
“To some extent, people will no doubt say Mickey Arthur is a scapegoat in this and, to some extent, he is but realistically, as head coach you need to take responsibility for the performance of the team,” Sutherland said at the time.
