You could argue that Rahim Moore didn’t cost the Denver Broncos a place in the AFC Championship game last year when he misjudged a Joe Flacco heave downfield which then connected with Jacoby Jones.

The touchdown with just 30 seconds to go in the fourth quarter only tied the game up and the Broncos still could have won it in overtime, but try telling that to Moore.

The Broncos get the enviable reward of hosting the first regular season game, a right usually reserved to the Super Bowl winners. But Denver didn’t win the Super Bowl, their opponents the Baltimore Ravens did.

The team which killed the fairytale season of the Broncos the season before going on to win it all is forced to spend week one on the road due to NBC wanting the showcase rematch.

It is an actual forced redemption game which the Ravens made even better through the acquisition of former Broncos defensive end Elvis Dumervil. Dumervil was all set to re-sign with Broncos but a fax machine error saw him released.

Who even uses fax machines these days? Ever heard of Twitter?

Dumervil however is just a small band-aid on the gaping wound that has been left by departures on the Ravens defence.

Ray Lewis, Dannell Ellerbe, Paul Kruger, Ed Reed, Bernard Pollard and Cary Williams all left the Ravens after winning the Super Bowl, its not easy to replace such defensive output.

They tried in free agency, picking up Dumervil along with Marcus Spears and Chris Canty to load an already loaded D-Line, but there is a significant hole in the middle of the field with Terrell Suggs the only real star at linebacker.

Denver however has had a troubled offseason for different reasons. Front office officials picking up DUI’s have clouded the Denver’s preparation for a fresh assault on the Super Bowl, so has the lack of a running game being present.

That could be solved by the pairing of Ronnie Hillman and Montee Ball with Knowshon Moreno to fill the gap when needed.

Who needs a running game anyway with Peyton Manning at quarterback and a receiving corps of Demaryius Thomas, Eric Decker and Wes Welker, all defensive backs can do this year against Denver is sit back and pray that Manning doesn’t feel like throwing a completion

All the signs point to Denver running riot in week one and all the way to the Super Bowl, however the same predictions were made last year, and who saw the final Denver offensive play being an interception?
