It’s impossible to not still be buzzing from Cadel Evans’ magnificent win on the Corkscrew during yesterday’s Stage 3 of the Tour Down Under. We’ll have live updates of Stage 4 from 2.00pm AEDT.

Stage 4 will provide Evans and his fellow GC contenders with a day off, so to speak, as the sprinters come out to play for the 148.5 kilometre ride from Unley to Victor Harbor.

The stage will consist of two intermediate sprints, the first will be at the 25.5km mark at Echunga.

Riders will contest the day’s final intermediate sprint as they pass through Yankalilla at the 116.6km mark.

On offer at these sprint points will be valuable time bonuses that could factor into the overall GC classification.

In between the two intermediate sprints there will be only one KOM point at the 95.7km mark at Myponga.

Lotto-Belisol’s Adam Hansen, who is having a cracker of a tour, leads this category on 20 points. The Queenslander is tied with Drapac’s Will Clarke, but as Hansen’s points were acquired on a higher category climb, he wears the white and green polka dot jersey.

He will, however, be busy today working to get his sprinter Andre Greipel across the line first.

The Gorilla has owned the Tour Down Under over recent years and will be a favourite for today’s stage. Lotto’s led out train is one of the best in the business, however without Kiwi Greg Henderson, the train seems to need a little tinkering in timing Greipel’s final run to the line.

Another German who will be looking for glory today is Marcel Kittel of Team Giant-Shimano.

The German with the magnificent blond quiff, is coming off a solid 2013 and will be another favourite for today.

Australian fans could be in for another victory today with a number of riders who could take out the stage.

Caleb Ewan may be an outsider among such a distinguished and experienced group of European pros, but he certainly is not over awed by the occasion.

Steele von Hoff of Garmin Sharp may also give the race to finish a good run for its money and then there is of course the Australian registered, World Tour team Orica-GreenEDGE.

GreenEdge are in the luxurious position of having a couple of options for today.

Matt Goss has been the team’s main sprinter for the team’s first two seasons but some poor form in 2013 has raised some questions about the Tasmanian’s future as the team’s top sprinter.

Michael Matthews is knocking at the door of becoming the team’s lead sprinter and the man from Canberra had a great 2013.

He won two individual stages at last year’s Vuelta along with winning two stages at the Tour of Utah, where he took home the sprint jersey.

Today will certainly provide fans with some fast and exciting racing.

Crosswinds can sometimes play a part in this part of the world. Teams may seek to form a breakaway for the tv time, but the day should end in a bunch sprint.

Join me at 2.00pm AEST for Stage 4 of the Tour Down Under.
