Ben Barba returns to ANZ Stadium as public enemy number one as his former club the Canterbury Bulldogs host the Brisbane Broncos. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 8:05pm AEDT.

All eyes will be on Barba tonight as he aims to start his Broncos career on a high at the expense of the very club where he made his name.

Expect the Bulldogs to hit Barba hard and in numbers in defence in a bid to rattle the star they had previously called their own.

The Bulldogs and Broncos both come into this season having under-performed in 2013 and will be keen to get off to a strong start.

Both teams are evenly matched across the board, with the Bulldogs having a slight edge in the halves.

A Broncos backline containing the likes of Josh Hoffman and Barba however will cause plenty of havoc if the Bulldogs don’t respect possession.

Upfront the battle should be intense, with Broncos stars Sam Thaiday, Corey Parker, Alex Glenn and Matt Gillett coming up against Bulldogs enforcers Frank Pritchard, Tony Williams and Aiden Tolman.

Williams needs a big season after a poor 2013 and a strong performance tonight will do his confidence a world of good.

With the Broncos playing with inexperienced halves, the experience and direction offered by Josh Reynolds may be enough for the Bulldogs to scrape home.
