The 2014 Indian Wells Men’s Singles Final will be played in the early hours of the morning AEDT Time as the swiss maestro Roger Federer will take on one of his most competitive rivals Novak Djokovic.

Both players have played terrific tennis during the fortnight in California and will be chasing the first ATP 1000 tour event for the season before they fly to Miami in the coming days.

Federer has been brilliant in California this time round making easy work Tommy Haas, Kevin Anderson and Alex Dolgopolov on route to this final. His 6-3 6-1 victory over Dolgopolov in the semi final was extremely impressive, considering the Ukrainian had defeated Rafael Nadal previously in the tournament.

Djokovic has struggled through his matches during the fortnight, however he has made the final after playing gutsy tennis all week.

Despite not playing at his absolute best, Novak battled past Marin Cilic before passing Julien Benneteau easily in straight sets. In the semi-final Djokovic played a very impressive last set against the home crowd favourite John Isner to win 7-5 6-7 6-1.

This will be the 33rd time the pair have met throughout their careers with Federer having the slight edge and also the momentum over Djokovic after defeating him in Dubai earlier in the year.

After this match the players will head to Miami to commence the second ATP 1000 Tour Event in this American hard-court stage of the season.

In the women’s final, Agnieszka Radwanska will play off in the final as the second seed against the twentieth seed and Italian Flavia Pennetta.
