Having won just one game all season, the Blues will be looking to get the points over the Cheetahs at Eden Park tonight. Join us for live scores from 5.35pm AEDT.

Coming into this match the Blues have lost all three away games and won their only home game. Their most recent loss to the Lions was against the run of play. They smashed the stats with tries, carries, metres, clean breaks, offloads, defenders beaten. You name it.

Oh, except for points scored.

They went down 39-36, as the Lions kicked eight goals, winning the game with the boot as they tend to do these days.

For tonight’s game there’s plenty in reserve with Jerome Kaino, Benji Marshall and Ma’a Nonu watching from the dugout. Let’s hope they get good game time.

That said, there’s plenty on the field, with All Blacks Charles Piutau and Frank Halai at wing and fullback.

This team knows how to score tries; they’ve scored more tries than anyone else in the comp. And they know how to keep possession, having conceded fewer turnovers per game (12.5) than any other team.

Their scrum success rate however is the worst in the comp, at 59 per cent. Notably, their opponents for tonight sit at 86 per cent.

Which brings us to the last-placed Cheetahs.

Unlike the Blues, they seem to hate the ball, holding it for less time per game than it takes a tradie to boil an egg – 13 minutes, 48 seconds.

This means they’ve attempted and missed the largest number of tackles of any team this year.

They’ll probably be hurting after last week’s massive 60-27 loss to the Hurricanes, but one thing you have to admire in the the Cheetahs it’s their spirit.

Head-to-head, the Blues have won five from seven against the Cheetahs, although the latter has won two out of their last three encounters.

The home team tends to win this match-up, and given the Blues have a penchant for tries, expect the Cheetahs to come out swinging.

Join us at 5.35pm tonight on The Roar, the place to be for live scores and where you can have your say on the go.
