The winless Cronulla Sharks host the New Zealand Warriors this afternoon in a match they simply must win. Join The Roar for live scores and coverage.

None from four; the wretched start continues for the team from the Shire. A win will give them some reward and hope for 2014 to their long-suffering fans.

They have a big injury toll to deal with, even though they’re starting to get players back the returning men could all use another week to recover.

This includes their first choice halves who should be playing this afternoon. Carney and Robson are a good pairing who’ve not had any time to get their combinations happening.

Could today be the day the Sharks bounce back?

We all know the story of the Warriors – this New Zealand side should be able to blast most sides off the park most weeks, but somehow never quite manage it.

If ever they were going to beat a victory out of a team away from home, this match is it.

Konrad Hurrell has made a massive difference to this team with his blockbusting running out wide. Sam Tomkins is growing into his NRL skin and Nathan Friend is turning back the clock this season.

Sebastine Ikahihifo will come into the side, possibly at lock or on the bench, to replace the suspended Sione Lousi.

Cronulla is on a winning streak of four in a row against the Warriors. Overall the balance of victories tips slightly in Cronulla’s favour 17-14.

Cronulla’s starchy defensive style probably stifles the fast, explosive Warriors attacking game but with the key man Paul Gallen along with Luke Lewis and Anthony Tupou out injured, there could be opportunities up the middle for Johnson and Tomkins.

Shark Park will need to be full of screaming Sharkies fans to help get their team over the line.

Prediction:
I tipped the Sharks purely for the ‘reason’ they must win a match eventually. But the Warriors are coming off two good wins and will want to build on that momentum.
