The battle for a place in next season’s Champions League heats up tonight as Everton host Arsenal in the Premier League. Join us for live scores and commentary from 10.45pm AEDT.

Arsenal once again find themselves scrapping for a Champions League place courtesy of poor results that have cruelled their Premier League title ambitions.

Arsenal currently occupy fourth spot on the Premier League ladder, but a loss tonight against Everton opens the door for the Toffee’s to snatch a place in next season’s Champions League with several matches remaining.

Everton have once again performed very well this season but will have to defy history if they are to defeat Arsenal tonight.

Arsenal have won 8 of their past 12 matches against Everton and always seem to secure a positive result against Roberto Martinez’s men.

Despite securing a positive draw against Manchester City last week, there is definitely an aura of vulnerability surrounding Arsenal at the moment.

Low confidence and a high injury toll continue to plague Arsenal and this leaves them open to yet another defeat away from home.

If there was ever a time for Everton to finally register a win over Arsenal, it is tonight. Everton’s hard working midfield led by James McCarthy and Gareth Barry will apply plenty of pressure to an Arsenal midfield that has often fallen apart in big matches this season.

With plenty of attacking stars still on the sidelines, the onus once again rests on Santi Cazorla, Thomas Rosicky and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to spark Arsenal’s attack to life.

If McCarthy and Barry can once again produce workmanlike efforts in the midfield for Everton, they will go a long way to blunting Arsenal’s creative attacking trio.

While Arsenal’s strong record against Everton must be respected, the home side’s physicality in the midfield and in defence should see the Toffee’s secure the win.

Everton to win 1-0
