Reigning MotoGP world champion Marc Marquez has claimed his second consecutive Grand Prix of the Americas title, beating teammate Dani Pedrosa on the same track where he took his first career victory.

Marquez dominated the field all week on his Honda and was in control of the race the entire way from pole position at the Circuit of the Americas.

Pedrosa finished second and Andrea Dovizioso was third.

The Texas race launched Marquez’ 2013 world championship season and he now has won the first two races of 2014 after an offseason training accident fractured his right leg.

Marquez had said the leg was feeling better this week and he showed no signs of trouble with it Sunday in cruising to the victory, his eighth in two years.
