Chelsea will be pleased that the first leg of this tough Champions League semi-final will be played at the Vicente Calderon.

The last thing Chelsea would have wanted would be to play the first leg at Stamford Bridge against a very well organised and physical Atletico outfit that is proving very difficult to break down. With the first leg in Spain, Atletico need a goal or two if they hope to upset Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and progress to an historic Champions League final.

Atletico have been superb this season. The fact that they managed to outplay Barcelona over two legs without Diego Costa says a lot about their current standing in world football.

Chelsea better be prepared for a fight against a team that is quickly establishing itself as arguably the toughest on the planet.

Atletico control space so well and are able to regroup in defence very quickly much to the frustration of more fancied rivals such as Real Madrid and FC Barcelona.

It is not surprising to read that Atletico remain the only undefeated side in the Champions League this season. No team really has come close to breaking down their rock-solid midfield and defence.

Chelsea though will bide their time away from home. They know that Atletico will have to attack at some stage in a bid to take a valuable lead back to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea have already shown against PSG that no deficit is too great for them to overcome back in London. Ideally, a score draw or narrow win today will see them go a long way to securing a place in the final.

Atletico under manager Diego Simeone however will have very different ideas, and with Costa back in the side, they possess the steel in defence and skill in the forwards to snatch a vital win.

Atletico to win 1-0.
