The biggest and most celebrated home-and-away round is on us today, as we celebrate not just football, but freedom today.

The Anzac Day round is the most popular home and away round in any football calendar. Today contains a rare triple header of games on one of the best days (if you are Australian or New Zealand) as we focus on how so many glorified young men helped our country.

Today I’ll preview the round and give my tips (which include some very spasmodic selections as so many upsets have occurred this year). Enjoy.

Who wins the biggest home-and-away clash of the year?
Last week completely changed the spectrum for everyone’s tips in this year’s iconic Anzac Day clash between Collingwood and Essendon.

Before Round 5, a lot of people thought that Essendon would recover and beat the Saints and then march into Anzac Day, ready to repeat the dose they served Collingwood last year. A lot of people also believed that Collingwood would be severely tested against the Kangaroos and would hobble into Anzac Day 2014.

Quite the opposite occurred as the Saints came marching in as they beat the Bombers, as well as the Pies completely outclassing the disappointing Roos. An intriguing clash awaits us at the ‘G today, as two teams very close to each other battle it out in front of a packed house.

Will Hawthorn rebound, or will two foes get them in two weeks?
Hawthorn was expected to win against Geelong. There. It’s out there.

After last year’s victory in the preliminary final seeming to break the curse, everyone thought that Geelong were done for and that Hawthorn would get them again on the way to the top of the ladder. Wrong.

Geelong proved their worth when it mattered and now Hawthorn faces another team they haven’t beaten in their last few matches, Richmond.

The Tigers have been disappointed and nearly snatched defeat from the jaws of victory as they let the woeful Lions nearly snatch victory. If Hawthorn are going to get Richmond, their time is now as they will be motivated as they get ready to rebound against a tame Tigers outfit.

What will happen on the blockbuster Sunday twilight clash?
As a tipper you would have gone through a round of tough picks, but none would have culminated as tough as this one.

Who will win?

Geelong has won the last ten against Port Adelaide but the Power is coming off an impressive win against West Coast at their fabled home. Now they return to their newly made fortress at the Adelaide Oval and battle it out with the Cats in another 1v2 clash.

This is the hardest pick of the round and something tells me that if Port is ever going to beat Geelong, it’ll be this game.

Tips:
Collingwood v Essendon- Collingwood by 19 points
St. Kilda v Brisbane- Saints by 34 points
Fremantle v North Melbourne- Freo by 28 points
Gold Coast v GWS- Gold Coast by 47 points
Carlton v West Coast- Carlton by 13 points
Melbourne v Sydney- Sydney by 10 points
Bulldogs v Adelaide- Adelaide by 22 points
Richmond v Hawthorn- Hawthorn by 55 points
Port Adelaide v Geelong- Port by 8 points
