I’ve had a great start to the year for my tipping. In my tipping competition, I am coming first with 34 correct tips from 56 games.

I’d like to share my expertise with readers of The Roar from now on.

NRL 2014, Round 8
Dragons versus Roosters
The Dragons have not been great the past few weeks and the Roosters have been losing close ones, although slowly their attack is starting to click. The Roosters also have a good record recently against the Dragons. Roosters by 14.

Storm versus Warriors
Two out of form teams to go head to head. Melbourne are a different side to last year, but not in a positive way. The Warriors are going just as poorly and have already lost their coach. This will be a close one and with teams struggling defensively, we could see end to end stuff. It’s now or never for the Warriors. Warriors by 4.

Broncos versus Rabbitohs
A tough game to pick. The Broncos are coming off a convincing win over Newcastle, while the Bunnies lost to the Bulldogs by a point. Whether the Rabbitohs can back-up a heartbreaking loss like that I’m not sure. Souths have injury concerns and the Broncos should be able to use a big home crowd to their advantage. Broncos by 8.

Sharks versus Panthers
With Paul Gallen returning last week, the Sharks were a much better team against the Roosters, despite coming up short. The Panthers beat the Titans last week although I’m not 100 per cent convinced about them yet. Sharks at home, should win this, although I think it could be tight, especially if it’s a wet. Sharks by 2.

Cowboys versus Eels
The Eels will be hurting from that controversial loss to the Tigers. A shortish turn-around, plus the long trip to Townsville, should see the Cowboys win this. Although if the Eels start well, don’t count them out. Cowboys by 10.

Bulldogs versus Knights
The best team currently in the league up against one of the most disappointing sides means we should see a Bulldogs win. The Bulldogs have shown they can beat the top sides and win through gritty football.

The Knights, unless Jarrod Mullen has a blinder, are no chance. Willie Mason is a huge loss and Jeremy Smith is in doubt with a knee injury. Bulldogs by 20.

Sea Eagles versus Raiders
Kieran Foran is out for Manly, while the Raiders will be full of confidence after downing a disappointing Storm side. If the Raiders turn up with the right attitude, there is no reason why they won’t win this match.

Although Manly are a classy team and whoever replaces Foran will do a good job. Daly Cherry-Evans should step up. It is a tough one to pick, but you have to go safe and tip the Sea Eagles although my opinion could change closer to kick-off. Sea Eagles by 6.

Tigers versus Titans
After leading the comp, the Titans got a reality check last week against the Panthers. The Tigers did it without Robbie Farah against the Eels, but could they do it again? There is more pressure on Luke Brooks, hopefully he can deliver the goods for the Tigers. I’m just not convinced on the Titans. Tigers by 8.
