The traditional Anzac Day clash between the St George Illawarra Dragons and the Sydney Roosters promises to be yet another fantastic encounter played in front of a sell-out crowd at Allianz Stadium. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 4.00pm (AEST).

Both Sydney and St George Illawarra are coming off good wins over the Warriors and Sharks respectively and will be keen to give their season a momentum boost with a victory today.

The Dragons did well to bounce back from their last minute defeat to the Storm two weeks ago by defeating New Zealand last Saturday.

Gareth Widdop, Josh Dugan and Brett Morris are all in good form at the moment and will trouble the Roosters if the Dragons win the battle upfront.

The Roosters meanwhile managed to end a three match losing streak last week by defeating Cronulla 24-18. It wasn’t the best of performances from the reigning premiers but they managed to secure a vital win that re-install’s some much needed confidence.

This time last year, Sydney managed to produce one of their best performances of the season, blowing the Dragons off the park on Anzac Day courtesy of fine performances from Sonny Bill Williams, Michael Jennings, Mitchell Pearce and James Maloney.

At their best, the Roosters possess the firepower in attack and steel in defence to beat the Dragons well today but it remains to be seen if Sydney will fire after a below part start to the season.

The Roosters have often started matches poorly this season. They have conceded the first try in their past five matches and need to steady the ship in this regard if they hope to find form.

While both teams will be up for today’s contest in front of a great crowd, if the Roosters can score first and get a lead, then they may develop the confidence necessary to play their best footy and secure their second straight win.
