Australian cricketers are one of the most highly paid players in the IPL 2014.

Among the big names signed are Shane Watson going for $2.2m for Rajasthan Royals and James Faulkner going for $1.7m in the same team.

Glenn Maxwell and Mitchell Johnson, both in tremendous form, went for more than a million dollars each too.

Australian Players in IPL 2014
Even though the IPL 2014 has most of the senior Australian players playing, there are a number of First Class cricketers who have also joined the ranks.

Here is a list of the Australian players signed to IPL clubs:

Rajasthan Royals: Shane Watson, James Faulkner and Steve Smith
Kings 11 Punjab: Mitchell Johnson, Glenn Maxwell, George Bailey and Shaun Marsh
Sunrise Hyderabad: David Warner, Aaron Finch and Moises Henriques
Mumbai Indians: Mike Hussey, Josh Hazelwood and Ben Dunk
Chennai Super Kings: Ben Hilfenhaus and John Hastings
Kolkata Knight Riders: Chris Lynn and Pat Cummings
Royal Challengers Bangalore: Mitchell Starc and Nic Maddinson
Delhi Daredevils: Nathan Counter-Nile

There is a lot of talk in Australia that playing in the Indian Premier League is their personal choice. That is completely okay, however for every choice there are pros and cons. There are concerns that the big money could impact negatively on the younger players.

Unlike the previous IPL 2013, this edition is being played in the United Arab Emirates. Australia’s major tour later this year is in the UAE, against Pakistan. Playing in the UAE can be great match practice for Australia’s big stars such as Johnson and Watson.

Australia is one of the pioneers of Test Cricket, and it has always been a proud moment for an Australian to put on a Test Cap. With the ever increasing popularity of the Indian Premier League, Australia started its very own Big Bash series.

Australian first class cricket has always been one of the strongest; there was even a time when countries touring Australia couldn’t even defeat the state teams.

But now during the Big Bash, first class cricket is suspended and hence players are then picked for the Test Side from the T20 format.

There are a lot of young promising first class players playing the IPL 2014 such as Lynn, Dunk and Maddinson. Imagine how money and fame could corrupt the minds of these young Australian stars?
