With its all pervasiveness and ease of access, the world of social media is a place where it is very simple to make a goose of yourself.

I mean hell, we’re all human, and who hasn’t ever tweeted something stupid.

Who hasn’t ‘liked’ a potentially career-ending Facebook page or had a picture of themselves nude in their bathroom mirror go viral?

As young blokes looking to champion their celebrity ‘brand’ for a cushy media gig in their post-playing days, footy players are more susceptible than most to rolling their ankles in social media’s pitfalls. Inevitably, that means they’ve taken to it like a duck to hot water.

On the upside social media channels allow us to get a peek inside the mind of the modern NRL player.

On the downside a peek inside most players’ minds is like opening the door to a teenage boys room… even if you’re not downright appalled by what you see, chances are you’ll still feel like washing your hands with a bottle of Dettol afterwards.

While the arguments over the legal and moral implications of Konrad Hurrell’s ‘hands free’ driving video will probably continue for some time into the future, what can’t be argued is that the bustling, occasional Warriors centre has joined a quickly swelling club.

Yep, social media misuse has claimed some big name scalps, so much so that if you have a look through the hit list… geez, that’s a team that Stephen Kearney would kill to have at his disposal one day.

Behold, the Social Media Fail XIII.

1. Josh Dugan
One of the side’s star performers, Dugan has the ability to really raise the roof and put an end to proceedings.

2. Blake Ferguson
The guava to Dugan’s pineapple, Ferguson makes for a sweet backfield combination with his partner in (alleged) crime(s) since breaking his way into the side.

3. Joel Monaghan
Has shown plenty of mongrel and deserves his place in the side, even if he has in the past been accused of mostly getting set up by others.

4. Konrad Hurrell
The young smiling assassin has plenty of drive and has shown a remarkable ability to handle more experienced opposition.

5. Josh Hoffman
Really proved himself at the World Cup last year with his performance making a number of NRL clubs take notice.

6. Ryan Stig
A colourful character that’s always prepared to throw the ball around with gay abandon.

7. Robert Lui
While you can always bet on Lui looking for more points, rumour has it that he isn’t even the most talented member of his family.

8. George Burgess
A young man with big things in front of him.

9. Robbie Farah
Has battled away gamely to always hang in there for the prime minister’s representative teams.

10. Willie Mason (captain)
A seasoned campaigner who has shown he can hack it at any level in both rugby codes and either hemisphere.

11. Shane Shackleton
Actually, maybe Kearney wouldn’t be too stoked with this selection…

12. Paul Gallen
An aggressive campaigner, Gallen has become something of a fatherly figure for the side.

13. Mark Taufua
Can always be called on for big things when his side is behind the nineball.

Now while the team has been looking at signing spicy free agent Arana Taumata for extra depth, as you can see it’s already a pretty crack outfit that would be capable of offending most on comers with ease.

However, this isn’t to say the side has stopped recruiting, in fact apparently they’re quite confident of landing a few more big name stars before the end of year cut-off…
