Racing’s new $20 million dollar man Chris Waller looks set to continue last week’s domination at Rosehill, as all eyes turn to focus on Brisbane’s biggest racing day.

Waller became the first trainer to top more than $20 million in prize money in a season. Last Saturday he prepared five winners – Sniper Fire, Mamwaazel, Amovatio, Kristy Lee and Tromso – at Rosehill Gardens.

Waller has also tasted success in Brisbane recently with Moriarity winning the Eagle Farm Cup last Saturday.

This week looks like it could be another Super Saturday for Waller, who will team up with Sydney’s inform jockey Nash Rawiller. There are five big race chances for the Waller-Rawiller combination.

They include:

Red Tracer in the Group 1 $1.36 million Stradbroke Handicap (1400m);
Vilanova in the Group 1 $500,000 Queensland Derby (2400m);
Brazen Beau in the Group 1 $500,000 J.J. Atkins Stakes (1600m);
Moriarity in the Group 2 $300,000 Brisbane Cup (2400m); and
Catkins in the Group 2 $200,000 Dane Ripper Stakes (1400m).

If you had any doubts over the combination, Waller already has won eight Group 1 races this season which is three wins ahead of rivals Gai Waterhouse and Peter Snowden.

Rawiller has also been in top form and is poised to win the champion Group 1 jockey title for the fourth time in seven years. Later this month Rawiller will take on an eight-week riding stint in Japan to fulfil a career long ambition.

“When you are a kid growing up, you dream of being one of the top Group 1 jockeys,” Rawiller said.

“This season has been special to me as I haven’t had a More Joyous or a Pierro to win multiple Group 1 races for me.”

What has made Rawiller’s haul of eight Group 1s this season impressive is that just one horse, Silent Achiever (Ranvet Stakes, The BMW), has won twice at the highest level.

Of the Waller-Rawiller horses on the weekend I like the look of Red Tracer, of which Rawiller has already won a Group 1 – the Myer Classic – on.

Her two barrier trials of late have been impressive and the race should suit her as she will sit off the pace of the race and swoop home to grab them late.

Another horse I like is Brazen Beau, the youngster missed the jump last start and was unlucky when second to Time For War in the BRC Sires Produce Stakes (1350m) at Doomben.
