Sports writers Brett McKay and Ryan O’Connell are riding on a sky blue cloud for the Cheap Seats Origin Game 2 special. New South Wales won 6-4 in Sydney and ended Queensland’s eight-year hold on the series.

In this State of Origin Game 2 review, Ryan is contradicting himself on how to deal with niggle, while Brett lists all the things that didn’t exist the last time NSW won an Origin series.

Origin 2 post-match talking points
• A niggly, narrowly played game for the purists;
• Robbie Farah and Josh Reynolds respective focus on the Queensland kickers;
• A fair reflection at half time, but game pace was marginally faster than a Channel Nine build-up;
• Anthony Watmough on report, for a lifting tackle on Nate Myles;
• Sam Thaiday has a try disallowed, but where on earth was the obstruction?
• Brent Tate suffers yet another serious knee injury;
• Trent Hodkinson scores the match-winner;
• Johnathan Thurston and Josh Reynolds on report for their coming-together;
• Jarryd Hayne closes out the game and creates the front page moment, and –
• The good and bad for both sides in Game 2, and what may or may not change for Game 3.
