MATCH RESULT:

A great game between two great rivals sees Manly emerge 8-point winners over the Roosters. Sydney lose but put in one of their best performances for a long time.

A poor conversion from Maloney in the second half cost the Roosters a good chance of winning this contest. Manly tough as nails and they will once again challenge for the premiership this season and they will be tough to beat.

FINAL SCORE:
Sea Eagles 24
Roosters 16

MATCH PREVIEW:

The Manly Sea Eagles and Sydney Roosters face off in what promises to be another tough contest between two premiership heavyweights. Join us for live scores and commentary from 7.30pm AEST.

Manly got the better of Sydney earlier in the season, securing an 8-nil win on the back of a very strong performance from their forward pack. The Sea Eagles dominated territory by winning the arm wrestle against the Roosters in Round 4.

Since then, the Sea Eagles have remained largely consistent and are once again well in the running for the minor premiership.

The Roosters continue to win matches but have failed to replicate their stellar form from last season. Coming off a bye, the Roosters will need to be at their best if they hope to escape Brookvale Oval with the competition points.

Halves Mitchell Pearce and James Maloney will need to play the percentages well against Daly Cherry-Evans and Kieran Foran. The Roosters forwards will also need to roll up their sleeves against a tough Manly pack.

The biggest concern for the Roosters is still their ill-discipline. They continue to be penalised heavily and are also known for producing plenty of errors under pressure.

The Roosters need to tighten their game up and play direct – this is when they are at their best. If they can do that, than they are a solid hope of causing the upset.

The Sea Eagles at home though remain very difficult to tip against. They are coming off a convincing 26-nil win over the Sharks away from home and will be primed for a strong showing against Sydney.

While the Roosters should be very competitive, they haven’t shown enough good form to suggest they will gain two competition points tonight.

Sea Eagles by 6.
