The New Zealand Warriors host the Penrith Panthers at Mt Smart Stadium on Sunday afternoon, with the Round 16 action kicking off from 2:00pm (AEST).

The Panthers enjoyed the post-Origin wash up with the bye last week, but enter this round with strong momentum off the back of a five match winning streak that dates back to late April.

Although their form appears strong, five of their past six games have come against the bottom five teams. With that in mind, facing the Warriors at home becomes far less of a certainty.

The Warriors enjoyed a strong 19-10 victory against the Broncos at Mt Smart Stadadium last round. They will be revelling in a lack of travel this month and look to build some momentum heading into the bye next round.

The last time these sides met came in Round 23 of last season. That match saw the Panthers run out a 28-24 victory at Mt Smart.

Dave Simmons scored two tries in that match, but the Panthers will be without him for this match as he recovers from injury.

Despite wins against lowly ranked sides, the Panthers will enter this match with momentum and confidence on their side.

The Warriors will be desperate to keep in check with the top eight, which should make for an intriguing Sunday afternoon match of NRL.
