Queensland State of Origin winger Will Chambers is being investigated by police after an alleged assault at a Brisbane bar in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

The player, believed to be Storm centre Will Chambers, has had a complaint filed against him by a member of the public, and Channel 9 are reporting the man may press for assault charges to be laid.

The Queensland Rugby League has confirmed they have been made aware of police investigations into the incident at the Down Under Bar on Edward St in the CBD.

“The League is currently working with the relevant authorities to determine the facts and will be making no further comment until this is complete,” the QRL said in a statement.

Police say they were called to a disturbance at the Edward St venue around 3am.

A spokesperson said they were investigating an assault complaint but reported no injuries to patrons.

Maroons players had only been in camp for 16 hours after the team was named on Tuesday morning.

Queensland’s Origin team has prior history at The Down Under Bar with coach Mal Meninga landing himself in hot water last year for going behind the bar to pour himself a drink.
