MATCH RESULT:

Controversial finish to the game but the Bulldogs deserved their 23-16 victory over Manly. The Sea Eagles didn’t show up with the intensity required to win tonight.

The Bulldogs turned up to play and outmuscled Manly. Big questions marks have been raised without Cherry-Evans in attack as well.

Great win for the Bulldogs. This should allow them to finish the season very strongly now. Watch out for Canterbury.

FINAL SCORE:
Bulldogs 23
Sea Eagles 16

MATCH PREVIEW:

The Manly Sea Eagles are flying high on top of the NRL ladder and will be favoured to continue their winning ways when they clash against an under-strength Canterbury Bulldogs tonight. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 7.30pm AEST.

Manly are once again firming for another tilt at the premiership following last week’s great win over the Roosters.

In a physical contest, the Sea Eagles were pushed all the way but they still managed to produce enough class in attack to secure victory over the reigning premiers.

Despite missing Anthony Watmough, Glenn Stewart and Daly Cherry-Evans for tonight’s clash, the Sea Eagles will still start strong favourites against the Bulldogs.

Canterbury are without halves Josh Reynolds and Trent Hodkinson for the game against the Bulldogs, with the pair on NSW Origin duty. Throw in the absences of Sam Perrett and Josh Morris and the Bulldogs may struggle to ask questions of a strong Manly defence.

The only concern for Manly surrounds their inconsistent performances when Cherry-Evans is out of the side.

Cherry-Evans has a big say on how well the Sea Eagles perform in attack and his absence may rob Manly of some spark in the halves.

With the Bulldogs significantly under strength however, the Sea Eagles still possess more than enough weapons in attack to seal the win.

Brett Stewart, Kieran Foran and Jamie Lyon are coming off strong performances against the Roosters, while Peta Hiku, Steve Matai and Jorge Taufua are also in good form.

In short, a loss for Manly tonight would come as a big surprise. The Bulldogs have toiled well without their Origin stars but really lack the creativity needed to win matches. Their recent defeats to the Roosters and Eels is testament to this.

If the Sea Eagles can avoid playing complacent football, they should win.

Sea Eagles by 16.
