The Penrith Panthers have an opportunity to keep pace with ladder leaders Manly when they take on the under strength Wests Tigers this afternoon. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 3.00pm AEST.

Manly are building up a nice lead on top of the NRL ladder and will really fancy their chances of claiming the minor premiership should Penrith lose today.

The Panthers are now four points from first position on the ladder and need to beat the Tigers to keep their top two hopes well and truly alive.

Despite coming off a 10-point defeat to the Warriors, the Panthers will start favourites against the Tigers given that their opponents are missing some key players through injury and Origin duty.

James Tedasco is once again on the sidelines for the Tigers due to injury while Robbie Farah and Aaron Woods are both missing because of Origin. Their absence robs the Tigers of plenty of attacking spark.

The Panthers however are missing Jamie Soward due to injury and that will also rob Penrith of much needed direction in attack.

Penrith though still have enough class and experience on the field to get the job done today. Peter Wallace, Josh Mansour, Matt Moylan, Dean Whare and James Segeyaro are all in good form and will cause plenty of problems against a weakened Tigers side.

For the Tigers to cause the upset, halves Braith Anasta and Luke Brooks will need to perform strongly. Without Farah in the team however, it remains to be seen if Brooks and Anasta can conjure up the creativity needed to test Penrith.

The Tigers however are at home and won’t die wondering today. They too are well in the running for a finals birth and will fight tooth and nail to get a result.

Penrith though possess enough quality across the park to get the job done.

Panthers by 12.
