Rising Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios has split from coach Simon Rea two weeks after stunning top-ranked Rafael Nadal to reach the Wimbledon quarter-finals.

Kyrgios announced on his website that he was switching to two Australian coaches – Josh Eagle and Todd Larkham – to spend more time at his home in Canberra.

The 19-year-old had worked with Rea, a New Zealander based in Melbourne, since winning the Australian Open junior title in January 2013.

Playing in only his fifth major tournament, Kyrgios became the first man to reach the quarter-finals in his Wimbledon debut in 10 years.
