Canberra prop Brett White has announced he will retire at the end of the 2014 NRL season.
After debuting for Melbourne in 2005, White has played 192 NRL matches, three Tests for both Australia and Ireland, and eight State of Origin games for NSW.
The 32-year-old prop played in three grand finals for Melbourne (2006-2008), before joining the Raiders in 2011.
With the Raiders certain to miss the finals, White will fall just two games short of joining the 200-club if he plays in all six remaining NRL matches this year.
However, he said he feels the timing was right.
“I told the boys at training this morning which was pretty tough, but I feel lucky as I’ve been able to do just about everything in the game,” he said.
White added that he had no regrets from a career that’s been full of highlights.
“The grand finals are a stand out for me and even though there is some controversy around them I know in my heart that the 2007 grand final is something I’m proud of,” he said of the Storm being stripped of the title for salary cap breaches.
