The tough run home continues for the North Queensland Cowboys as they face premiership favourites the South Sydney Rabbitohs away from home. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 7:30pm (AEST).

It’s a short turnaround for the Cowboys following Monday night’s one-point defeat to the Panthers.

Another defeat tonight could derail another season full of promise.

The Cowboys were well in contention for a place inside the top four before their loss to the Panthers.

Now they find themselves on the cusp of the top eight and need to cause an upset tonight to keep finals football on the agenda.

South Sydney have proved daunting opposition over the past fortnight, securing dominant victories over Brisbane and Manly to be well in the running for the minor premiership.

Greg Inglis is at the peak of his powers and will look to continue his rich vein of form against the Cowboys.

If the Cowboys do turn up with their best football, tonight’s contest has the potential to be one of the games of the season.

Hopefully the wet weather that has plagued Sydney over the past few days is absent. The Cowboys and Rabbitohs are two of the NRL’s most entertaining sides to watch and a dry track should ensure some exciting football.

If the wet weather does persist however, one has to favour the Rabbitohs to seal victory.

Their forwards are making metres at will, with the Burgess brothers in particular enjoying a fine finish to the season.

While the Cowboys certainly have what it takes to cause a potential upset, the present form of the Rabbitohs bodes well for yet another victory for the Redfern club.

Rabbitohs by 6.
