MATCH RESULT:

The Dragons have kept their slim finals hopes alive with a 34 to 6 thrashing of the Gold Coast Titans on Sunday afternoon.

Injury concerns for St George with both Benji Marshall and Josh Dugan leaving the the field late with ankle injuries.

The Dragons face a do or die clash next week against the Broncos while Sunday’s loss has now seen the Titans drop their last 5 straight matches.

FINAL SCORE:
Dragons 34
Titans 6

MATCH PREVIEW:

With only three matches left in the regular season, the St George Illawarra Dragons need to win all remaining games to make the finals, starting today against the Gold Coast Titans. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 3:00pm (AEST).

The Dragons ended a massive hoodoo last week by defeating the Raiders away from home for the first time in over a decade.

It was a comprehensive win for the Red V and most importantly it keeps them in the race for a top eight spot.

But given the Dragons’ negative differential, a loss today would likely spell an end to their finals aspirations.

While the Dragons will start as favourites, the Gold Coast will prove no pushovers if their effort against Manly is anything to go by.

Last week the Titans pushed the league leading Sea Eagles all the way before succumbing in a tight contest.

The Titans have often punched above their weight against the really good sides, as evidenced by their away wins over South Sydney and Melbourne earlier in the season.

If the Dragons turn up with a complacent attitude, the Titans will win.

If their is one claim Neil Henry’s men can make, it is that they make teams work hard for two competition points.

In good news for the Dragons, the promising halves combination between Benji Marshall and Gareth Widdop continues to improve.

It’s not a perfect combination by any means but these two players possess enough class between them to lead the Dragons to a vital victory.

Prediction:
Dragons by 10.
