Little is left on the line but pride when the North Melbourne Kangaroos and the Melbourne Demons meet at Etihad Stadium on Saturday night. Join The Roar for live scores and coverage from 7:40pm (AEST).

The Kangaroos have been in promising form in the lead-up to September, with three wins in a row from their last three matches, including an impressive display last week against the Adelaide Crows in Hobart.

Melbourne on the other hand have been in increasingly poor form in recent weeks, notching a ninth consecutive loss last week against the West Coast Eagles in Perth.

It would be fair to say that North is the dominant one of these two teams in recent years, the Kangaroos currently have a twelve game winning streaks against the Demons, the longest of any current streak in the AFL.

The most recent of these was a 51-point win earlier this year.

Knowing that they cannot go up or down on the ladder regardless of the result, North have rested a handful of their key players for the match, with Todd Goldstein, Levi Greenwood, Luke McDonald, Lindsay Thomas and Michael Firrito all missing the match.

Lachlan Hansen and Jamie MacMillan will both return from injury, Daniel Wells from suspension, while Daniel Currie gets a chance and young forward Mason Wood will make his debut.

The Demons have made two changes, bringing in Jordie McKenzie and Aidan Riley to replace Cameron Pedersen and Colin Garland.

Neither side is likely to move on the ladder from this match, but it will be interesting to see if Melbourne can capitalise on North’s decision to rest its players, and finish the year on a high note.

Prediction:
While it’s a chance, I just don’t see the Demons getting up for the occasion. North Melbourne should win comfortably.

North Melbourne by 36 points.
