The Hong Kong racing season is back with a bang today and here are the six horses that you need to keep your eye on ahead of the new season.

Brilliant Dream
Trainer: David Hall
Current Rating: 60

Showed great heart to fend off Star Track after travelling wide throughout second last start before a spell. Has placed in two of his first three starts including that win against Star Track. He has ability and the Gelding out of Pentatonic should head significantly higher in the ratings this season.

Key Witness
Trainer: Tony Cruz
Current Rating: 86

Was desperately unlucky not to win in his last outing after Pearl Win got a dream run on the rail. He displayed some potent acceleration to storm over the top of his rivals at Happy Valley in February despite beginning slowly. Best when ridden patiently and sure to make his presence felt in the upper grades.

Lang Tai Sing
Trainer: Manfred Man
Current Rating: 78

Fought on bravely to narrowly miss behind Golden Deer in just his second local start. Has placed in two of his first three races, he put a space on his opposition in his second start and should further improve.

Luger
Trainer: John Size
Current Rating: 100

Exciting gelding who effortlessly put paid to some talented horses such as Fantastic Kaka and Marvel Tribe last preparation. Now rated 100, he faces his acid test but should prove competitive at the highest level this season.

Packing Llaregyb
Trainer: Andreas Schutz
Current Rating: 89

Has a tendency to race keenly at times but he handled the step up to the mile well for his third consecutive triumph. Honest as the day is long and has more upside, I can see him improving this prep.

Teofilo Calva
Trainer: John Size
Current Rating: 86

Kept some good company last season and was unbeaten in three starts. Will be a force to be reckoned with this season as long as he stays sound.
