As a diehard Sydney Roosters fan, Friday night’s game was filled with excitement, nerves, anger and a hundred other feelings. But at full-time, while everyone was talking about a conspiracy, focus turned to next week’s clash against premiership favourites the Roosters.

NRL fans around the world will be tuning into this game for what should be a dream clash. Ultimate bragging rights are at stake for both sets of supporters.

So many significant stories will be shared in this game. It will be the first finals game between the two foundation clubs since the turn of the century, and the last time they met in sudden death was 1938.

It could be the last games we see from Anthony Minichiello, Sonny Bill Williams or Sam Burgess, while Minichiello will break Luke Ricketson’s club record for most ever games with the Roosters.

Is it the last time we witness Burgess line up against Sonny Bill Williams? Or will they face each other in rugby union? We’ll also see in-form halves Adam Reynolds and Mitchell Pearce square off for the first time since Round 1.

So who will lead their team into the grand final?

It’s the Burrow versus the Chookpen, and the atmosphere will be dynamite. This game has no reason to not be a sell out and we could see the biggest preliminary final crowd in history.

The Roosters are attempting to create history and become the first team to go back-to-back since the Broncos in 1992-93. With names like Pearce, Williams and Minichiello running around, this is their chance to stop Souths Sydney’s premiership charge.

The Rabbitohs have been waiting for this moment all year – another shot at redemption in a preliminary final. This is their chance, their moment, to finally reach the illustrious grand final for the first time since 1971. Greg Inglis, Sam Burgess and Issac Luke will do anything it takes to finally take their Bunnies to that moment.

The two foundation clubs, who played in the first Australian rugby league final, will be facing off 107 years later in an 80-minute battle to determine who will proceed to this year’s grand final.

What a game it will be. Everyone can feel the excitement building. Bring it on.
