UFC Fight Night represented the organisation’s second recent foray into the Japanese market and featured an explosive heavyweight matchup between Mark Hunt and Roy “Big Country” Nelson.

The main card fight promised fireworks from the outset and did not disappoint.

Nelson arguably shaded a cagey first frame with strikes and numerous takedown attempts, repeatedly trying to take the fight to where he had the advantage, on the ground.

In the second round however, the fight caught fire with Nelson finally securing a takedown and briefly taking Hunt’s back before being shrugged off and returning to his feet.

Hunt then connected with a mighty right uppercut causing Big Country to collapse face first onto the canvas.

The referee was forced to intervene at that point, mid-way through Round 2, and the fight ended.

The undercard featured a number of entertaining bouts featuring a number of well-known fighters from the Pacific Rim.

In the co-main event, American Myles Jury gained a first round knock out over the highly regarded Takanori Gomi with a crisp right hand and follow up strikes.

Australian Richie Walsh looked to have done enough to win against a spirited Kiichi Kunimoto, knocking his opponent down three times and dominating the fight.

The judges however ruled otherwise, crediting takedowns and ground control as cause for awarding the Japanese star a controversial split decision.

The night however belonged to Mark Hunt who now has another top 10 victim on his resume and is now looking to break into the top five.

There have been rumblings of Hunt wanting to get onto the UFC card in Sydney in early November so perhaps he will be seen back in the cage sooner than expected.
