Emerging AFL star Will Langford scored a miraculous goal during the third term of the 2014 AFL Grand Final as the Hawks moved toward their latest AFL flag.
The Hawks claimed their third AFL Premiership in seven seasons, beating the Sydney Swans by 63-points in front of 99,454 at the MCG.
Nearing the end of the third quarter, the Hawks’ lead was commanding, but they did not let up their relentless pressure, pushing the ball deep into their forward line once again.
The ball came close to crossing the boundary in the Hawks’ right forward pocket, however Langford was able to rescue the ball, spin and sneak a shot on goal past the leg of Swan, Josh Kennedy.
Remarkably, the ball trickled end-over-end in a straight line directly through the big sticks to give Langford his third goal of the match.
Langford finished the game with 21 touches, three goals, six tackles and three marks.
After conceding the first goal of the match, it was all one way traffic as the Hawks extended their lead at every break.
At quarter time the margin was 20-points, half time 43-points, three quarter time 54-points and the final margin, 63-points.
Hawthorn Captain, Luke Hodge, claimed his second Norm Smith Medal, as the Hawks won their third AFL Premiership in seven seasons, becoming the first side to go back-to-back since the Brisbane Lions in 2002 and 2003.
