Slow-bowling wizard Muttiah Muralitharan was due to arrive in Dubai later on Thursday as Test skipper Michael Clarke’s Australia side attempt to demystify Pakistan’s spin.

Sri Lanka’s Test world-record holder, who Cricket Australia has employed as a spin-bowling coach, will work closely with off-spinner Nathan Lyon and NSW left-arm tweaker Steve O’Keefe in the coming weeks.

O’Keefe, who’s in line for a possible Test debut in Dubai on October 22 should selectors seek a spin twin for Lyon, arrived in Dubai on Thursday morning.

Australia’s coach Darren Lehmann has spoken this week of how Pakistan still have plenty of tricks up their sleeve despite Saeed Ajmal’s chucking ban which has ruled the star spinner out of this month’s series.

Murali is also set to work with Australia’s Test batsmen to try to nullify Pakistan’s spinners.

Pakistan will host a one-off Twenty20 international in Dubai early on Monday morning (AEST), followed by three one-dayers and two Tests.

Australia claimed a 2-1 victory in their ODI series against Pakistan in the UAE in 2012 despite Ajmal taking 10 wickets at 9.90.
