MATCH RESULT:

Liverpool are lucky to escape with all three points after a flurry of late goals saw them sneak home with a 3-2 win over QPR.

It was an absolute thrilling finish to the match as three goals were netted in the final minutes of the game (including two in injury time).

QPR will rue the two own goals they registered, including the final goal of the match that sealed the victory for Liverpool.

QPR remain anchored to the bottom of the English Premier League table, while Liverpool look to start their march back to the top four.

FINAL SCORE:
Liverpool 3
QPR 2

Liverpool need to make a statement if they are to convince the rest of the league – and indeed themselves – that last season was no fluke, and that they belong in the top four.

Liverpool enter this fixture sitting in 10th position on the EPL ladder after an extremely inconsistent start to the season.

Last start they managed a 2-1 win against West Brom, and were unlucky to not take all three points in the Merseyside Derby the week before.

Coming up against cellar dwellers QPR, Liverpool can not settle for anything other than a convincing win.

QPR on the other hand will be looking to reboot their season after only gathering four points from a possible 18 so far.

Presently they sit at the bottom of the league, below Burnley thanks to their horrid -11 goal difference.

We never know what we are going to get from Mario Balotelli; since he donned the Liverpool red it has been either Super Mario or Stupid Mario.

For Liverpool’s sake, they need Super Mario to show up tonight as this could potentially be a sticky fixture for them, coming up against a desperate QPR.

Liverpool’s goal-scoring form has been as dry as a prune in recent fixtures. Tonight they need a lift. They need Super Mario to lift.

I think he’ll do just that.

Both teams enter this match in desperate need of a win, but Liverpool have more on the line. They can not afford to let any more space form between them and the top of the table.

Prediction
3-0 thrashing by Liverpool.
