Well… While we might call this the A-League expert tips and predictions, there’s not been much expert about the tipping and predicting so far.

Sure, the write of this bit of the article might be squarely away from the firing line compared to our experts, but this A-League season is proving very difficult for our masters to pick.

When the Round Ball Analyst himself can’t pick a game right, you know you’re in strife.

To be fair, the three horse race nature of football tipping means blind luck is a little harder to stumble on, so we’ll give these guys a bit of time to get their bearings.

This week’s tips!

And if you’re not an “economic girlie man” like the person writing this part of the tips, then put your money where your mouth is in the comments below!

Brisbane Roar v Sydney FC

Friday 24 Oct – Suncorp Stadium @ 8:00PM on SBS

Tony Tannous says: The hosts are desperate for a win, but they look very shaky and I think Sydney can pray on this vulnerability & get the points. Many goal threats, 2-1

Mitch Grima says: Brisbane. Because three consecutive Roar losses is unimaginable.

Janek Speight says: Brisbane. Surely they can’t lose three on the trot? Sydney’s comeback in the derby was impressive, but I’m yet to be convinced. Roar by a couple.

Dom Trimboli says:Brisbane have been far from their best, but I can see them notching up their first win of the year against a Sydney side playing their third game in a week.

Vince Rugari says: This should be decent. Sydney weren’t great last week, but they showed a lot of fight and determination, and I fancy them to consign the Roar to three losses in a row to start the season. Yowzer. Sydney.

Melbourne Victory v Melbourne City

Saturday 25 Oct – Etihad Stadium @ 7:30PM on FOXTEL

Tony Tannous says: It hasn’t been the best of weeks off the field for City with the whole Villa saga, and I’m not yet convinced about their defence. Victory 2-1

Mitch Grima says: Victory. Sorry to kill the romance, David!

Janek Speight says: City. Victory have been great against two of their immediate contenders this season, but City have been threatening to secure a win in their two stalemates. Draws aren’t good enough if they’re to draw big crowds, a win here would be massive.

Dom Trimboli says: Victory were lucky to come away with a point in Adelaide, but I’m backing them to hit top gear in the derby and come away with the Derby win.

Vince Rugari says: Oh lordy. What a game this will be. I’m on Victory to get the points but if City can find Villa more often on the night, this could go either way.

Wellington Phoenix v Newcastle Jets

Sunday 26 Oct – Westpac Stadium @ 3:00PM on FOXTEL

Tony Tannous says: The Jets have been pretty decent so far, and look well organised enough to get a point in Wellington, 1-1

Mitch Grima says: Phoenix. They looked impressive against Mariners and should turn it on at home.

Janek Speight says: Wellington. The Jets have played well without reward so far, but their record across the ditch is woeful. Phoenix by a goal.

Dom Trimboli says: Wellington will fancy themselves notching a second win on the trot. I fancy them here too.

Vince Rugari says: Phoenix should get it done at home, but it won’t be comfortable – Newcastle can hold out teams for long periods as they showed last week.

Adelaide United v Perth Glory

Sunday 26 Oct – Coopers Stadium @ 5:00PM on FOXTEL

Tony Tannous says: Not an easy game for the hosts after going to extra time on Tuesday, but I see them controlling this and having too much quality for Perth, 2-1

Mitch Grima says: Draw. This is about superstition more than anything else.

Janek Speight says: Adelaide. Perth have defied critics and are looking pretty for finals football. But Adelaide are running rampant under Josep Gombau, they’ll take top spot after this weekend.

Dom Trimboli says: Can Adelaide shoot down high flying Perth? Probably. Maybe. Who am I to say? I scored 0/5 in my tips last week. I’ll go for the draw.

Vince Rugari says: Stop it A-League, another cracker. At home I’m tipping the Reds but you really can’t write off a Perth side with Andy Keogh leading the line.

Janek’s also given a special tip for the ACL: Western Sydney to grab a 1-0 win over Al Hilal, banishing their league form and setting themselves up for an exciting return leg.
