Shane Van Gisbergen and Jonathon Webb will be looking for back to back victories at the Gold Coast 600 today after winning Race 31 yesterday.

Join The Roar for a live blog of qualifying and Race 32 of the championship from 12:25 AEDT.

Starting from pole positon for the third time this season, Van Gisbergen and Webb finished ahead of Whincup and Dumbrell, to take the teams 4th win of the season in Race 31.

They will be looking to repeat that result today and take a clean sweep of victories at Surfers Paradise.

If they do that they will became the first team, and duo, to do that since Whincup in 2008.

Despite losing the race yesterday, it was another solid day for the 5 time champion in the championship, and the endurance cup.

Whincup extended his lead to 315 points in the championship, and extended his lead to 66 points in the endurance cup.

A 12th placed finish today would give Whincup and Dumbrell the title of Endurance Cup champions for 2014.

They will be looking to finish higher though and win today’s race to enhance their position in the championship.

Looking to stop Whincup and Dumbrell today will be Mark Winterbottom and Chaz Mostert from Ford Performance Racing.

For Winterbottom he will be looking to close the gap in the championship and make it under 300 points between him and Whincup.

For Mostert he will be looking to beat the Red Bull Racing pair in the endurance cup.

The youngster, who won the Bathurst 1000 with Paul Morris, is the only other driver and combination that can stop Whincup from taking out the endurance title.

He needs to beat Whincup by more than 67 points today to take the crown off the Red Bull driver.

He was made to work hard for his 6th spot yesterday after fighting back from a lap down during the middle stages of the race. It was an incredible recovery from the Ford driver.

Mostert will almost need to win today to take the Endurance Cup crown. For Winterbottom, it is the same scenario.

The team will be looking for revenge after being stripped of a podium by the stewards after yesterday’s race.
Winterbottom finished in third after overtaking Tim Slade into the front straight at the end of the race.

The stewards though took the podium away from Winterbottom after they found the contact made by the FPR driver to Slade in the final corner was enough to impede on the Holden drivers run down the front straight.

This, according to the stewards, handed Winterbottom a speed advantage which gave him the spot in the end. They felt they had no other option but to award the penalty.

FPR were angry with the decision and deemed it to be unfair to Winterbottom as they didn’t look at all the data from the incident.

Out of all this, one thing is clear; FPR will be out for revenge today after the incident. Watch out for them today.

On the other side of the ledger, it was a fantastic job from Slade and Tony D’Alberto, to secure the team’s second podium for the year.

For D’Alberto it was his first ever podium in the V8 Supercars.

After years of toil, and effort, as a one car team funded by his family which stopped at the end of last year, it was a fantastic moment to see him celebrate a podium result.

They will be hoping for another result like that today.

They were the only highlight on a horrible day for Walkinshaw Racing.

James Courtney and Greg Murphy didn’t finish a lap, Oliver Gavin and Nick Percat had a steering problem during the race, and Garth Tander and Warren Luff had a tyre delaminate in the closing laps of the race.

Each combination has a point to prove today and will be looking to gain a solid result in the race.

The same can also be said for Scott McLaughlin and Alex Premat.

For the first 45 laps, it looked like the Volvo of McLaughlin and Premat, would win race 31.

Unfortunately for them the strategy didn’t work out and they were taken out of contention for the win.

They will be looking to get the strategy right today and win the race.

They have the car pace and the combination to win the race if they get the strategy right.

Some teams will also be looking for better results after running into trouble yesterday.

Only nine cars finished on the lead lap after combinations got caught out with strategy and mistakes at critical times during the race. They will be looking for a better day today.

In a change to yesterday, the teams won’t have to worry about a top ten shootout for Race 32. Only one qualifying session is needed today to set the grid.

If today’s racing is anything like yesterday then it will be another big race in the V8 Supercars.

A title will also be awarded to the winners of the Endurance Cup.

It promises to be another big day at Surfers Paradise. Join The Roar for all the action of race 32 of the championship.
