Sydney deserved winners today as they secure a two nil victory over the wasteful Mariners who certainly had their chances to get back in this game.
Duke in particular hit the bar from close range and had his penalty saved late in the second half.
Sydney though created plenty of chances of their own and could have scored at least one goal in the second half.

New coach Graham Arnold hasn’t wasted time turning fortunes around at Sydney FC. The sky blues remain undefeated after the opening three rounds of the A-League and are playing some clinical football in the process.
Two superb goals last week against Brisbane allowed Sydney to secure a 2-nil away victory against the reigning premiers. Throw in a derby victory over the Wanderers the week before and you can see why Sydney are beginning to firm as one of the A-League’s true title contenders.
Against the Mariners, Sydney will start fairly strong favourites. The Central Coast however should not be underestimated if previous history is anything to go by.
The Mariners make a habit of rebounding from adversity as evidenced by last season’s late winning run. After a poor midyear slump, the Central Coast turned things around after securing a positive result in the Asian Champions League mid-week.
It only takes one result against the odds to change the fortunes of a club and the Mariners will certainly fancy their chances against Sydney, given the fact that they have won their past three meetings against the club.
If the Mariners hope to cause the upset, they will have to limit the attacking potency of former Central Coast stars Bernie Ibini and Pedj Bojic.
Both players have settled in well following their move to Sydney and will look to inflict further misery on their former club this afternoon.
If Sydney do score early or take the lead, they will be very difficult to run down for a Mariners side coming off a tough loss to Wellington.
While the Mariners should certainly give 100 percent, Sydney at the moment appear difficult to tip against, especially if Marc Janko replicates the superb form he showed against Brisbane last week.
